I learned that the cliff was named after Washington Irving. He wrote The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. He visited the cliff and thought it was one of the most beautiful places on earth. I also learned that there used to be a hotel up on top. It was built in 1883. The tragedy struck... it burned to the ground right before its opening. Another hotel was never built.

I hiked a cliff that is 400 ft. tail with Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Campen's class on a field trip. It is called Irving Cliff and it is a special landform in their town of Honesdale, PA. When I got to the top, I saw beautiful view of the town. I also saw "the star" that lights up the night sky during Christmas. One of the student's great- grandfathers built the star.
